1. OnePlus 6

OnePlus 6 Render

OnePlus 6 is set to succeed the successful OnePlus 5T and from the first impression, it looks like an Android smartphone, packing a faster processing speed and a larger (6.28-inch, to be exact) full-screen notch display. To jog your memory a little, an all-screen with a notch at the top is an iPhone X speciality. OnePlus 6 also plans to optimize its OxygenOS to support easy access to all the notifications. The phone is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and houses up to 256 GB of memory. On the camera front, the leaks suggest that OnePlus 6 has a 20MP and 16MP dual-lens camera, and a selfie shooter of 20MP. What’s grabbing a lot of limelight ever since it got teased is the improved alert slider of OnePlus 6, which points to many capabilities for the smartphone, including adjusting camera settings in a swipe.

OnePlus 6 is rumored to grace the floors by May or June, however, there’s no official word on this.

Google-Pixel-3-concept

Google is at works, piecing together its next set of devices, and the first one to likely hit the picture is Google Pixel 3. Notably, Google has taken down Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones from its official store, giving a lot of room for the rumor mills to go into an overdrive. As things work, it’s anticipated that Google isn’t just planning a Pixel 3 device, but also a souped-up version, which could be Pixel 3 XL. Coming from the big G, we can expect that there will be a lot of emphasis on the software. Also, the company is prepping up to launch Android P, an upgrade over Android Oreo, so it’s a matter of time to see whether Pixel 3 will be powered by the latest software rollout. That being so, new leaks have also come up to suggest that Google is working on a cheaper Pixel 3 model, which is codenamed Desire.

From the past releases, it wouldn’t be wrong to concur that Google’s next will be launched around October 2018 with some sort of a price hike, maybe.

Like every year, Apple reportedly has an interesting lineup of iPhones for 2018 as well, however, the details are all a guesswork. From what we hear, the company is working on three iPhones, out of which, one is said to be the iPhone X (2018 edition) while other two are purportedly the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus. Several reports on the web suggest that Apple thinks of launching a next-gen iPhone X as a more lucrative decision than lowering the price of iPhone X, and this is why it’s planning to kill the latter. Specs-wise, it’s anticipated that iPhone X (2018) will sport the Face ID and the iPhone X-like aluminum build, back panel design and display. It’s also rumored to feature the OLED screen and the ‘notch’ at the top – a feature that gained much hype last year. As expected, the iPhone X (2018) will be powered by the Apple A12 processor, which is a replacement over A11 Bionic currently in use. Further, it’s expected to run iOS 12, which will be introduced at the upcoming WWDC Conference 2018.

Considering the launch timeline of Apple, the next-gen iPhone X is expected to be unveiled around the month of September this year and may be priced $999.

Display Unknown
Processor Apple A12
RAM 4GB

4. Nokia 9

Nokia 9

Nokia is back to the bay, and going full-steam to make 2018 as its own. This season, it’s the Nokia 9 hogging the attention, and by what we know so far, this device is big on innovation. The leak sheet suggests that Nokia packs a 6.01-inch AMOLED display, an Intel Snapdragon 845 processor, a bulkier 3,950mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a dual-sim slot. Alas, there’s no word on the availability of hybrid SIM for additional microSD storage. The upcoming phone is also said to sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. There’s a new, dependable and high-power camera setup for Nokia 9, featuring a 41MP wide-angle primary lens and a 20MP secondary lens with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). There’s a strong possibility that Nokia 9 has Xeon flash as well. HMD, the new caretaker of Nokia’s Android-based smartphones, has said that all its smartphones (except Nokia 2) will run on Android 8.1 Oreo, so Nokia 9 will also be on the same vein.

Nokia 9 release is still a speculation, but considering how Nokia isn’t frugal about the phone’s hardware, it’s likely to be expensive.

Nokia 9 Specifications (Expected)

5. Xiaomi Mi 7

Xiaomi Mi 7 Render

Xiaomi Mi 7, as what the leaks point to, is got to be a behemoth of a smartphone. It has got everybody talking about the ‘borderless’ display looks and in-screen fingerprint sensor (perhaps, on the rear of the device), which are its main highlights. To talk about other features, reports indicate that Xiaomi Mi 7 will be powered by Snapdragon 845, 8GB of RAM, a 5.6-inch full-HD screen, 128GB of onboard storage, 16MP dual cameras, and a 4480mAh battery. Note that, it’s the second Xiaomi flagship after Mi Mix 2S to offer 7.5W wireless charging as per what we’ve been informed so far.

Xiaomi Mi 7 is coming to us in June this year, and a recent Weibo post states that it’s because of the preparations made for embedding fingerprint sensor into the smartphones.

6. Samsung Galaxy X Foldable Smartphone

Samsung-Foldable-Smartphone

It’s been on the grapevine for so many years that Samsung is ideating and working on a foldable device, named the Galaxy X. If we’re to get lucky this time, the Samsung’s foldable might debut in 2018 and pitch a new, intense trend in the industry. Prototypes suggest two very interesting designs of the device – either it opens or closes inward like a book, or closes down horizontally like a notepad, displaying two things on different screens, or a single big picture spread across both the folds. Further, it’s expected to come with an inbuilt screen protector and could be bulkier as compared to usual smartphones. Price is also an essential insight not meant to pass over. Since foldable is an exotic idea for a smartphone, you shouldn’t be surprised to notice a hefty price tag hanging along. The most important reason for such an exceptional price would be the external build materials.

Granted, we all are excited to see a smartphone folding and doing all that jazz, but the launch of Galaxy X foldable smartphone is still in the midair. Also, in the initial stages, expect this device to hit only a handful of Asian markets, such as Korea and China.

7. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

Xiaomi-Mi-Mix-2

Xiaomi is fresh from the success of Mi Mix 2, and now making a lot of noises for its upcoming Mi Mix 3. So, we’ve collated all the significant rumors to get a gist of how this device plans to create a market for itself. The first images from Concept Leaks show an all-black panel with a vertical dual rear camera (similar to what we’ve seen on iPhone X) and a central fingerprint scanner. Bucking the trend, Xiaomi is reportedly bringing water resistance and wireless charging to Mi Mix 3. Other features include Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage. Also, the handset might come with an improved VR support, as Facebook’s Oculus has partnered with Xiaomi to build the Oculus Go.

Based on the pattern of releases, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is expected to release in September this year and would be shipped from the next month onwards.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Specifications (Expected)

8. Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+

Samsung-Galaxy-S10-concept

The Galaxy S10 rumors are already doing the rounds, and reportedly, there’s no new design in the making. Also, reports tell that the phone will not sport the foldable AMOLED display either. Among a barrage of leaks, an important one comes from The Bell, suggesting that the Galaxy S10 will have the infinity display design just like the predecessors. The phone would have a regular and a Plus (+) version with 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch displays respectively. Another report notes that the Galaxy S10 will have a front-facing, 3D-sensing camera, which improves the security of face unlock and AR emoji.

Apparently, Samsung plans to kill the competition with a kickass fingerprint sensor, which will be placed under the screen. If Samsung pulls off the challenge, it would be a great win. The South Korean giant has joined hands with Qualcomm, Aegis Tech and Synaptics for the development of in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 Specifications (Expected)

Display 5.99-inch FHD+ Display

9. HTC U12+

HTC-U12+

HTC U12+ rumors are already here and what we’ve known so far is that the device will pack all the exciting stuff from its predecessor U11, albeit with a few reworked internals. As for the display, there are huge bets on the striking liquid glass design, which looks minimalistic and classy. Evan Blass, the famous leakster, has shared images showing that the phone has an extra tall 18:9 screen sans any iPhone X-like notch. Another imported specs reported include Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, Dual 12MP camera, and a 16MP secondary camera. Also, it’s expected that the phone houses a 3,420mAh battery pack, which is just a little than what Samsung Galaxy S9+ offers.

Evan Blass said that HTC U12+ is expected to hit the floors somewhere in April or early May. However, it’s all a guesswork.

Microsoft-Surface-Smartphone

For Microsoft, its new attempt of venturing into the smartphone markets isn’t going to be all hunky-dory. Understandably, there are bigger scores to settle. Microsoft is back in the news for its Surface phone and the final prototypes of the device are already in the media. According to the early reports, the company is introducing a new feature called ‘Continuum’ for selected phones. This feature allows you to turn your handheld into a fully-functional PC. This is interesting because users will be able to have the typical PC-like experience on their Surface phone and that too, on the fly. Moreover, there are reports that the prototypes of the device are to be foldable, which is again a knockout by Microsoft. The device is reportedly having a fingerprint sensor, along with Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Compass, and Gyroscope. Apparently, it has an improved graphical infrastructure too to support intensive gaming.

Since the Surface device is still in the testing, it’s hard to conjecture when it’s going to hit the shelves. The launch can happen towards the end of this year, we surmise.

Microsoft Surface Phone Specifications (Expected)
